Converting Guests To Members

Do you often have guests visit your club and then not come back the following week?

Perhaps the guest is confused, or doesn’t fully grasp how a Toastmasters meeting works.

Here are some suggestions to help encourage your guest to return, and perhaps even join, your club.

Make sure the guest is made to feel welcome. Ask your guest what their expectations are when they attended the meeting. Were they looking for a particular set of skills? Invite the guest to ask lots of questions and endeavour to answer as many of them as possible.

Exchange contact information with the guest. Make sure the VP of Membership saves the contact info on the guest page in Free Toast Host.  Remind the guest to accept the opt-in message so you will be able to stay in touch.

Send the guest copies of the Digital Guest Packet, the Pathways Flyer, a Membership Application and a link to the Toastmaster Magazine. Then, the following week, email them the agenda and Zoom link by writing an email to “guest-[club#]@toastmastersclubs.org”

By extending this personalized invite, the guest will feel welcome and be more inclined to join your club.

Remember, dialogue is key. The more you converse with your guest, the more they feel welcome, and the more chances you’ll have of converting that guest into a member.
